One-day winter mountaineering workshops are intended for socializing and discovering what we are not yet sovereign at, what we have not yet mastered and what will still need to be practiced. Safe movement in the mountains requires a lot of knowledge and experience from us, and such and similar workshops are perfect for the first steps. They are an indicator that we are approaching winter mountaineering in the right way, thoughtfully and step by step.

In winter, every experience counts twice!

What will we learn about at the workshop?

Assembly at Tonka’s Hut, and in case of immobility of the road in Kranjska Gora at the Juliana Agency. A few theoretical basics, preparation for the tour, display of winter equipment, and a warm fireplace will soon be replaced by (hopefully) winter conditions. The practical part will be packed in points, as a kind of mini tour in the vicinity of Vršič. We will learn:

  • Presentation of winter equipment
  • Preparing for the tour, monitoring weather conditions
  • Proper installation and use of winter equipment
  • Walking and advancing on snowy slopes
  • Demonstration and demonstration of handling avalanche equipment
  • Basics of reading terrain and conditions, dangers in the mountains in winter
  • If the terrain is suitable, stopping with an ice axe
  • Accident measures, first aid
  • A few on a spoon and homemade dumplings for the end!

See you in Kranjska Gora!
